Instructional goal, “Lead group discussions aimed at solving problems” : step
6, “Manage cooperative group interaction” ) are repeated in column 1 of Table
7.5 . A test item or set of items is illustrated for each of the objectives.
2. Performance Objectives As you examine the test items,
first notice the congruence between the performance objective and the item
relative to objective conditions, behavior, and criteria. For example, examine
the congruence between performance objective 6.5.1 and its corresponding test
directions for learners on the right side of the table. The objective
conditions prescribe a simulated meeting with the learner serving as leader.
The task directions to the learners describe them as leading the meeting. The
behavior in the objective is to initiate actions to engender group members’
cooperation. The task directions on the right side prescribe that the leader
initiates actions to engender group members’ cooperation during the meeting.
The criteria in the objective should appear on the designer’s rubric for
observing leader behaviors during the meeting, and not in the task directions
